The Black Test Corner Temperature Probe is designed for surface temperature measurement during electrical appliance testing in accordance with IEC 60335-1.
The standard ELPRO version uses a type T (Cu-CuNi) thermocouple, class 1 according to EN 60584-1. The measuring junction is mounted on an uninsulated copper measuring disc Ø 15 × 1 mm, manufactured in accordance with the IEC 60335-1 requirements for temperature measurement on Black Test Corner surfaces.
Black Test Corners are typically equipped with a grid of multiple temperature probes for monitoring temperature distribution across the measuring surfaces.
ELPRO probes are suitable for equipping measuring grids as well as for replacing individual measuring points in existing Black Test Corners. The thermocouple wire length can be adapted to the requirements of each installation.
The probes can be supplied with temperature calibration, allowing customers to receive probes ready for integration into their measuring system when setting up a new measuring grid or replacing an existing one.
Depending on the number of probes and customer requirements, calibration can be performed:
individually – each probe is calibrated individually,
as a batch – a cost-effective solution for larger quantities of identical probes used to equip a measuring grid.
The calibration method, calibration points and accompanying documentation are agreed with the customer according to the application and specific requirements.
The standard Black Test Corner temperature probe is manufactured with a type T thermocouple.
A type K (NiCr-Ni) thermocouple version with different technical specifications is also available on request.
The thermocouple wire length can be adapted to customer requirements. Suitable compensation or extension cables, thermocouple connectors and other connection accessories are also available.
